What a week to be alive and long semis — said nobody. The Nasdaq dropped 4.8% on Friday alone, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) down over 4% on a perfect storm of $AVGO's guidance miss, a scorching jobs report (172K jobs vs. 80K expected) that's now got markets pricing a rate hike by December, and institutional funds raising cash ahead of the SpaceX IPO at a $1.75 trillion valuation. Tom Lee at Fundstrat is calling it healthy consolidation and positioning noise — he's not wrong that the SpaceX Nasdaq fast-entry rule is forcing real selling mechanics — but try telling that to your portfolio.
$AAPL was the Mag 7's biggest drag, sliding ~5-6% after WWDC unveiled a Siri AI that's still in beta with no firm release date. Powered partly by Google's Gemini, described by one analyst as 'where they should have been two years ago' — which is a polite way of saying Tim Cook's last WWDC was a sell-the-news event with extra steps. Meanwhile, $INTC ripped +11% — up roughly 200% year-to-date — after reports Google will order 3 million+ specialized AI chips from Intel for 2028. One man's routing is another man's rerating.
Eyes this week on $ORCL (earnings Wednesday, guided for $90B revenue long-term, AI infra up 84% last quarter) and $ADBE, which needs to convince a skeptical crowd that AI is friend, not cannibal. With $KALSHI clearing $1B in volume in five days on perpetual futures, the prediction market crowd is clearly betting on more volatility — and for once, the prediction market might be right.
